Unfortunately, self-help won't help you eliminate your panic attacks or overcome them.
But there's one effective technique that has helped me quite a lot.
I got it from "The Panic Attack Solution". The technique is called: "The Clarifying Technique".
Next time when you have a panic attack, observe the symptoms you're having and ask yourself with these questions:
- What am I anxious about?
- What is the purpose I'm here for?
And by asking the 2nd question, your brain realizes you're on the plane trying to get somewhere, nothing else!
Here's another example:
You're driving your car and you suddenly experience a panic attack for no reason or out of the blue. You apply the clarifying technique by asking yourself: "Why am I anxious of?"
Your brain realizes there's nothing much to be afraid. You told yourself that you drive safely all the time. Then you ask the 2nd question and your brain realizes you're driving to get to somewhere... you're not driving to just get panic attacks!
This will help to ease and calm your mind which will prevent you from having a full blown panic attack.
You can try using home remedies for panic attacks which uses herbs and other means to curb panic attacks. But they are meant for short-term use only. It would be unwise to use it as a long-term aid. There are a wide selection of treatment for panic attacks, you can learn it here: panic attack therapy
